Top 10 MUST-HAVE Apps that are revolutionizing provision of e-services in Rwanda
Rwanda is a growing digital marketplace, with more consumers insisting on convenience and innovative solutions. In a rapidly evolving e-commerce landscape, navigating many apps can be overwhelming. Below, Business Insights curates the list of the top 10 essential e-commerce apps explicitly tailored for Rwanda that anyone could find useful.
- Vuba Vuba
With an average of 700/900 daily requests on peak days, Vuba Vuba is one of the most used apps in Rwanda. It comes in handy for those who probably don’t feel like stepping out. The App lists over 50 restaurants, including a drinking section and a grocery store. Payment is done using mobile money, and waiting times depend on how soon the restaurant prepares the meal.
- MTN MoMo App
Available for both iOS and Android, the MTN MoMo App is meant to make sending and receiving money seamless. You can also use it to top up airtime, purchase bundles, and pay your Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) taxes and water bills. - Pay.rw
This is an Online bill payment platform that you can use to pay e-tax, electricity, buy airtime, pay Pay TV, RURA taxes, and WASAC water bills. The beauty of this App is that it supports Airtel Money, Mastercard, MTN MoMo, SmartCash, SPENN, and Visa.
- Nokanda App
Nokanda means ‘no need of pressing (USSD) codes. This App makes it easy to interact with telecom services, a seamless way of using USSD. However, to use this App, you must have a SIM card installed from one of the supported networks (MTN Rwanda and Airtel Rwanda). Nokanda has a wide range of services, including sending mobile money, paying electricity and water bills, buying airtime, paying IREMBO and RRA taxes, DSTV and Startimes, etc.
- The Rwandair App
One of the most visually appealing Apps. This App is well designed, and for a frequent traveller, it makes booking seamless and brings the check-in process more at your fingertips. You can also generate a boarding pass to avoid queues at the airport, check in online and download your boarding pass (from 24 hours to 4 hours before your flight departure time). - Eden Care
Eden Care is an innovative digital health insurance and health and wellness service that started as a startup with a core focus on seamless healthcare insurance plans for businesses (specifically for those of an SME nature). Huza and e-HR solutions started as PESA CHOICE, co-founded by Davis Nteziryayo, currently the outfit's Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The solution targets businesses and is described as top-tier software for organisational growth. The developers emphasize client value through reliable HR solutions and salary advances. There are several banking Apps, but those we would love to mention include the BPR Mobi App (for BPR banking customers) and the Eazy Banking App developed for Equity Bank. Both Apps allow their customers to access their accounts and transact through their mobile devices and allow customers to perform enquiries on account balances.
- Visit Rwanda App
The Visit Rwanda App is designed for visitors (mostly travellers) seeking essential information that could help them plan their visit to Rwanda. The articles are written by Phillip Briggs – author of the Bradt Guide, and allow visitors to find everything they need about Rwanda’s national parks, destinations, unique experiences and much more. You have probably not yet heard about the SaveApp, which is mainly because it is a savings App built for groups like cooperatives. SaveApp is a digital solution that encourages people to save collectively as a group or as friends. It was developed
by Shema Steve, the CEO of EXUUS. The App has a digital wallet for collective saving schemes and can be downloaded from Google Play or Apple Store and accessed. The minimum contribution of savings and social funds is Rwf500.
